Wilson, NC – Southern Wesleyan dropped the road contest to the Barton Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in a 93-68 final score.
The Warriors shot 46.4% from the field and three posted double digits in the loss to the Bulldogs. Eric Hackett led the team with 19 points including three from beyond the arc. Reco Hallmon (15) and Raevon Allen (10) each scored double digits. Of the 16 assists by the team both Griffin Effenberger and Matthew Rouse had four.
Southern Wesleyan totaled 37 rebounds in the game with Che Smith leading the team with eight boards. Reco Hallmon was right behind him with seven. The Warriors stole the ball three times.

How It Happened
Barton jumped out early as Jett Fortuny hit a three pointer one minute into the game. Jump shots by Trevon Spencer and Reese McDonald extended the Bulldogs lead to 7-0. Raevon Allen was fouled on a shot and went to the free throw line. Allen hit both his free throws to put the Warriors on the board. Barton would not relent as Donaven Hairston collected a pass from McDonald from beyond the arc and put it into the basket. With just over thirteen minutes left on the clock, Jonathan Taylor received a pass from Eric Hackett. Taylor put up the three to put the Warriors behind the Bulldogs 21-7. Threes by McDonald and Fortuny propelled the Bulldogs to a twenty-two point lead. Griffin Effenberger sunk a three pointer and then Reco Hallmon made free throws for Southern Wesleyan. Matthew Rouse was able to pass the ball over to Hallmon who got past the Bulldog defense before putting up a jump shot. Southern Wesleyan countered baskets by Sean Quick-Streeter as Eric Hackett and Jonathan Taylor each put up jump shots. The Warriors continued to chip away at the Bulldogs lead as Hackett collected a pass from Effenberger and put up a three. However, the Bulldogs led 48-25 going into the locker room.
Jett Fortuny kicked off the second half scoring for the Bulldogs as he sunk another three pointer. However, the Warriors countered with a layup by Jonathan Taylor. Reco Hallmon laid the ball up into the basket, but a jump shot by Marko Krtinic allowed Barton to extend their lead to twenty-six. Southern Wesleyan fought on with baskets by Hallmon and Che Smith, but Barton countered with more three pointers by Sean Quick-Streeter and Reese McDonald. Eric Hackett stepped beyond the arc and hit his second three pointer of the afternoon. Barton maintained their intensity as Trevon Spencer dunked the ball into the basket with just over fifteen minutes left in the half. Hackett and Trey Crews exchanged threes. Southern Wesleyan pushed on as Reco Hallmon and Raevon Allen each laid the ball up into the basket from the paint. Aaron Tims took a pass from Matthew Rouse and sunk the three to put the Warriors down 76-56 with just over nine minutes left on the clock. Hallmon passed the ball out to Allen who hit a three, and then, seconds later, Hallmon took the ball to the basket for a layup. However, Barton went on to claim a 93-68 point victory over Southern Wesleyan.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return home on February 14 as they host the Young Harris Mountain Lions at 7pm. They will then host the Converse Valkyries on February 17. The Warriors will travel to Due West, SC on February 21 to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet.
