How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan started quickly as Dynasty Shegog laid the ball up into the basket off a pass from Kaliah Kendrick.  Seconds later, Alexis Glover laid the ball up to extend the Warriors lead to four.  The lead was short lived as Ashyia Willis and Miracle Parker each put up shots to tie the game up.  A jump shot by Evie DePetro allowed the Bobcats to take the lead.  Asia Pearley put up a shot to keep the Warriors within two.  Southern Wesleyan would not relent as a three pointer by Pearley tied the game up once again.  Peyton Looky collected a pass from Pearley and sunk the ball into the net from beyond the arc to allow the Warriors to regain the lead.  The Bobcats countered as baskets by Natalia Bolden and Ashyia Willis put Georgia College back on top.

Early in the second quarter, Peyton Looky stole the ball away from the Bobcats and passed it up the court to Alexis Glover.  Glover laid the ball up into the basket from in the paint to put the Warriors within one point of the Bobcats.  Georgia College pushed on as layups by Natalia Bolden and Ashyia Willis allowed them to extend their lead to eight.  Looky sunk her second three pointer of the game to put the Warriors within five points of the Bobcats.  The Bobcats answered with a three pointer out of the hands of Hannah Cail.  A last second layup by Asia Pearley put the Warriors behind the Bobcats 37-31 at halftime.

Southern Wesleyan kicked off the third quarter with a jump shot by Taylin Smith.  Makayla Raines hit back-to-back three pointers to give the Warriors a two point lead.  Evie DePetro laid the ball up to tie the game back up, but it was short lived as Kaliah Kendrick hit a three pointer.  Southern Wesleyan continued to sink the ball into the basket from beyond the arc as Peyton Looky and Rahkhia Mack each hit threes.  Asia Pearley passed the ball out to Looky who hit her second three of the quarter to extend the Warriors lead to six.  Pearley blocked a shot attempt by Rose Bone and passed the ball down the court to Looky.  Looky hit another three pointer to put the Warriors ahead 55-47.  With just over a minute on the clock, Makayla Raines sunk the ball into the net from beyond the arc once again.

The Warriors maintained the intensity in the final quarter as Alexis Glover laid the ball up into the basket.  However, Evie DePetro put up a jump shot and was fouled in the process to earn the and-one basket to put the Bobcats back within ten.  Georgia College continued to chip away at the Warriors lead with baskets by Jada Warren.  Ashyia Willis put up a jump shot, but the Warriors countered with a layup by Asia Pearley.  Deshona Gaither hit a three pointer of her own to put Georgia College back within five.  However, with just over three minutes on the clock, Asia Pearley put up a jump shot to extend Southern Wesleyanls lead to seven.  Miracle Parker stole the ball away from the Warriors and laid it up to put the Bobcats down three.  Southern Wesleyan continued to counter each of Georgia College's challenges as Asia Pearley laid the ball up several more times.  The Warriors held the Bobcats at bay as they claimed the game in an 87-83 final score.
