Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in a tough match against the Flagler Saints on Tuesday evening in a 76-56 final score.
The Warriors shot 37.5% from the field. Kaliah Kendrick led the team with 12 points. Both Asia Pearley and Dynasty Shegog each had nine points. The Warriors had 10 assists in the game with Pearley leading the team with four. Kendrick had two assists.
Southern Wesleyan pulled down 26 rebounds with Asia Pearley leading the team with six. Dynasty Shegog had four rebounds. Pearley picked up two blocks. The Warriors stole the ball away eight times with both Kaliah Kendrick and Peyton Looky stealing the ball two times.

How It Happened
Flagler struck first as Jessica Dowdy hit a three pointer early on in the game. However, the Warriors took the lead seconds later as Kaliah Kendrick and Taylin Smith each put up baskets. The Saints countered as Sharale McCormick laid the ball up off a fast break. Asia Pearley laid the ball up to keep the Warriors within four. Peyton Looky stole the ball away from the Saints and passed it down the court to Pearley who quickly passed it to Alexis Glover. Glover laid the ball up and was fouled in the process to earn the and-one basket. Another layup by Glover put the Warriors within two.
The Saints maintained the pressure in the second quarter as Marley Smith laid the ball up into the basket. Southern Wesleyan would not back down as Alexis Glover and Taylin Smith each put up jump shots. However, a three pointer out of the hands of Sharale McCormick allowed Flager to extend their lead to seven. Makayla Raines stepped beyond the arc and sunk the ball into the basket. With just over four minutes on the clock, Marley Smith laid the ball up into the basket off a fast break. A last minute layup by Dynasty Shegog put the Warriors behind the Saints 34-29 at halftime.
Southern Wesleyan struck quickly in the third quarter as Kaliah Kendrick fired off a shot from beyond the arc. However, seconds later Sharale McCormick put up a three of her own to keep the Saints lead at five. The Warriors and Saints exchanged points several times, but the Warriors would not relent their attacks as Kaliah Kendrick laid the ball up. Peyton Looky collected the ball and sent the ball into the net from deep beyond the arc to tie the game up at thirty-nine. Flagler pushed on as Marley Smith laid the ball up. Dynasty Shegog collected a rebound off a missed layup by Rahkhia Mack and tipped it into the basket.
The Warriors challenged with layups by Asia Pearley and Kaliah Kendrick early on in the fourth quarter. However, the Saints kick started a run off a layup by Se'lah Reddick. They pushed further ahead with a layup by Destiny McClendon. A series of fouls against the Warriors sent the Saints to the free throw line several times to extend their lead to twenty-three. Kaliah Kendrick hit another three pointer. Despite late free throws by DeYana Hayes and Kyra Price, the Warriors fell to the Saints in a 76-56 final score.
What's Next
The Warriors will travel to Belmont, NC to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders at November 30 at 2pm. Southern Wesleyan will return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on December 4 as they host the Georgia College Bobcats. They will then host the Lees-McRae Bobcats on December 7.
