Gaffney, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Limestone Saints in a 101-69 final score on Wednesday evening.
The Warriors shot 40.4% from the field against the Saints. Four Warriors posted double digits in the game with Kaliah Kendrick leading the team with 16 points. Taylin Smith (12), Peyton Looky (12) and Asia Pearley (11) were the other Warriors who recorded double digits. The Warriors had nine assists in the game with Pearley leading the team with three. Both Kendrick and Smith had two assists.
Southern Wesleyan collected 33 rebounds in the game. Asia Pearley picked up seven rebounds, and both Taylin Smith and Peyton Looky had five rebounds. Kyra Price blocked three attacks by the Saints. The other block of the game came off the hands of DeYana Hayes. Southern Wesleyan stole the ball 11 times with Kaliah Kendrick leading the team with four.

How It Happened
The Saints struck quickly off a jump shot by Reagan Kargo, but a shooting foul sent Kaliah Kendrick to the free throw line seconds later. Kendrick made both free throws to tie the game up. Limestone pushed on as Graycie Poe sunk the ball from beyond the arc. The Warriors fought back with layups by Kendrick and Asia Pearley. Kalisha Hill laid the ball up into the basket to extend the Saints lead. Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge with a layup by Taylin Smith. Reagan Kardo hit another three pointer for the Saints. Lexie Ransom collected the ball and sunk it into the basket from beyond the arc to put the Warriors behind the Saints 25-16.
Southern Wesleyan were the first to score in the second quarter of the game as Asia Pearley passed the ball under the basket to Peyton Looky. Looky laid the ball up into the basket. However, the Saints countered with a jump shot by Dior Shelton. Taylin Smith passed the ball over to Kaliah Kendrick who stepped beyond the arc to sink a three pointer. Yannah Seaberry fouled Smith as she was attempting to hit a three pointer to send her to free throw line. Smith hit each of her free throws to put the Warriors back within thirteen points of the Saints. Kaliah Kendrick stole the ball away from the Saints and then took the ball to the basket for a layup. Limestone would not relent as Brynn Tabeling hit a three pointer. Amara Newsom hit several baskets in the final minute of the quarter to allow the Saints to lead 59-35 at halftime.
A jump shot by Asia Pearley allowed the Warriors to take the first points of the third quarter. Limestone countered with a layup by Reagan Kargo. The Saints would not relent as Kargo hit another jump shot. Lexie Ransom laid the ball up into the basket with just over five minutes left in the quarter. A foul by the Saints sent Peyton Looky to the free throw line. Looky hit both her shots to put the Warriors behind the Saints 70-42. Megan Watson hit a three pointer, but the Warriors countered with a jump shot out of the hands of Peyton Looky.
Limestone's Dior Shelton picked up her third foul of the game to send Taylin Smith to the free throw line. Smith hit one of her two shots to kick off the final quarter of the game for the Warriors. However, a three out of the hands of Yannah Seaberry allowed the Saints to extend their lead. Taylin Smith stepped beyond the arc and hit a three pointer of her own shortly afterwards. Southern Wesleyan pushed on with baskets by Rahkhia Mack and Asia Pearley. However, Kalisha Hill hit a pull up jump shot for the Saints. Taylin Smith drove to the basket for a layup. With just over four minutes left on the clock, Alexis Glover laid the ball up into the basket. Smith passed the ball over to Peyton Looky who laid the ball up. However, a last second layup by Jasmine Grant allowed Limestone to take the game in a 101-69 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will host their home opener on November 16 as they welcome the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles to Central, SC at 2pm. They will celebrate their first annual Alumni Day during the game. The Warriors will then travel to Spartanburg, SC to take on the Wofford Terriers in exhibition play.
