Final: Southern Wesleyan University 74, Limestone University 85

Records: Southern Wesleyan University (0-3), Limestone University (2-1)

How It Happened:

The Warriors opened with a new Starting Five for the third time this season, going with Che Smith, Eric Hackett, Marcus Long, Christopher Osobaye, and Aaron Tims to start the game. Osobaye had the first four points of the game for SWU, converting on two free throws on the first possession followed by a bucket in the paint on the third possession. The Warriors and the Saints traded buckets in the early stages of the game before Hackett went on a solo 5-0 run to put his team up 11-9. After Tims connected on his first three of the season at the fourteen-minute mark, Limestone went on a 20-4 run over the next six minutes to establish command of the lead. Much of the Warriors' first-half success on the offensive end of the floor came from the free-throw line, as they shot 12-12 from the charity stripe including a pair from Hackett to end the period.

Osobaye, who has been the Warriors' most productive scorer in the young season, started the second half strong with five of the teams' first nine points. However, the Saints matched all of his buckets and added some more of their own pushing the lead up to twenty-three with just over thirteen minutes to play. Southern Wesleyan immediately answered with a 15-5 run over the next five minutes to cut the lead down to ten, capped by a transition layup from Tims. Smith then connected on a three to get the lead within single digits right before the under-four media timeout. The Limestone advantage was just seven following a score in the paint from RJ Bell, but the Saints iced the game with a pair of free-throws and a layup to give the Warriors their third consecutive loss to start the season.
