How It Happened

The Warriors didn't start as slow as they had in previous games this season, but they had a momentary lack of concentration that led to the first Crusader goal. In the 6th minute, Midfielder Hale Ottman found himself in a pocket of space and sent a very inviting through ball in the direction of forward Kalvin Semedo who got behind the SWU defense and was fouled in the box by Josiah Pitts. Semedo would convert the spot-kick and give NGU the 1-0 lead. The Warriors matched with some good attacking play down the right side through Winger Dillon Bennett and full back Noah Koch. Semedo continued to cause problems with his pace as the first half went on. In the 32nd Minute, he found space off a thrown-in and pulled it back to a free Aulon Lekaj who found the back of the net to make it 2-0.

SWU dominated the opening 15 minutes of the Second Half and were rewarded with a 56th minute goal from Josiah Pitts following a deep free-kick from Feren Nunez. However, a Nunez missed penalty kick destroyed the Warrior momentum. More great play from Bennett created a huge chance for Brody Schroeder in the 65th minute, but the freshman could not convert and the Crusaders immediately came down and scored to make it 3-1. NGU would score again in the 73rd Minute. Junior Noah Koch scored his first goal of the season following another Nunez free kick, but the late efforts of the Warriors were not enough to pull out the miracle.

Tipton Wright was named the Warriors' "Spark Plug of the Game", a team-selected award for a player who brought high energy and an impactful performance. Wright was featured in multiple positions during the game Saturday, but he was one of the main bright spots for SWU.
