How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan got on the board in the bottom of the second inning.  Cam Mitchem led off with a single through the left side.  A fielder's choice took Mitchem off second and put Noah Wiggins on first.  Wiggins advance to second on a strike out swing by Marty Grisso.  With two outs and Wiggins in scoring position, Tyler Jackson singled through the left side to bring in the first Warrior run of the game.

However, the Lions countered as three more runs came in to score in the top of the third to extend their lead to 9-1.

In the bottom of the fourth the Warriors attacked again.  Marty Grisso doubled down the left field line.  A single by Tyler Jackson allowed Grisso to advance to third.  Dawson Gilstrap then hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring Grisso in to score.

Emmanuel put up another six runs in the top of the fifth inning.

The Warriors continued to fight in the bottom of the sixth as Justin Purdom reached first after being hit by a pitch.  With one out, a wild pitch allowed Purdom to advance to second.  Jackson Mix walked.  A single to left field by Marcerio Allen allowed Purdom to come in to score.

The Lions would not relent as runs in the top of the ninth extended their lead to 17-3.

Southern Wesleyan put up their final run of the game in the bottom of the ninth inning.  Luke Staton led off the inning with a single to center field.  With one out and Staton at first, Patrick Walker was hit by a pitch.  A walk to Jonny Middlebrooks loaded up the bases.  Justin Purdom was hit by a pitch to bring Staton home.  However, the Warriors fell to the Lions in a 17-4 final score.
