Coach Schneider says…

"It was a great team win today.  We have been working on winning more draw controls, ground balls and just getting more shots off.  Today we were able to get a lot of shots off.  Today we had seven different people score, and Yo-yo even set a school record with assists.  Hopefully we can keep the energy from today's game in our conference game this weekend."

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan attacked quickly as Yael Echeverria put the ball into the back of the cage just three minutes into the game to give the Warriors the lead.  The Warriors maintained the pressure as Lauryn Esposito and Fianna Steves each took shots on the goal, but British Dawson saved the attacks.  Within a minute both Yael Echeverria and Lauryn Esposito scored to extend Southern Wesleyan's lead to 3-0.  A foul in the eight meter allowed the Warriors to take another attack on the net.  Jocelyn Cosgrove took the free position shot and sent it into the cage.  Echeverria flipped the ball over to Cosgrove who put it into the cage to put the Warriors up by five with five minutes left on the clock.  Once again Echeverria had the ball, but this time she passed the ball over to Esposito who put it into the back of the cage.  Southern Wesleyan attacked once more as both Jocelyn Cosgrove and Fianna Steves  attacked the cage, but British Dawson prevented the Warriors from extending their lead further.  A last second foul in the eight meter allowed Mack Moreau to take a free position attempt.  Moreau put the ball into the cage to put the Warriors ahead 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Warriors continued the intensity in the second quarter as Yael Echeverria passed the ball over to Jocelyn Cosgrove.  Cosgrove put the ball into the cage to extend the Warriors lead to eight.  Lauryn Esposito put in back to back goals for the Warriors to put Southern Wesleyan ahead by ten to force a running clock.  Once again Esposito put the ball into the back of the cage.  With the clock running, Fianna Steves passed the ball over to Lauryn Esposito who to put the ball into the cage once again.  Alliance challenged as a goal by Jasmyne Moore put them back within eleven goals of Southern Wesleyan.  However, the Warriors led 12-1 at halftime.

Alliance took the first goal of the third quarter as Adrianna Ramirez scored.  However, Yael Echeverria sent the ball over to Jocelyn Cosgrove who scored to allow the Warriors to regain their eleven goal lead.  The Warriors challenged again as Mack Moreau attacked the cage, but British Dawson stood strong on the back-line to save the attack from paying off.  Cosgrove scored once more to put the Warriors on top 14-2.  Echeverria picked up another assist as she passed the ball over to Anita Renee Rhodes who put it into the cage for her first goal of the season.  Karla Gordon took a shot, but it went wide to keep the Warriors from extending their lead further.  Alliance continued to fight as Kristen Bernal scored off a free position attempt.  However, Southern Wesleyan would not relent though as Rhodes passed the ball over to Fianna Steves.  Steves sent the ball into the cage to extend the Warriors lead to 16-3 at the end of the third quarter.

Once again Alliance attacked the net as Jasmyne Moore scored the fourth goal of the game for the Warriors of New York.  Southern Wesleyan pushed on as Jocelyn Cosgrove won the draw and took the ball down the field.  Cosgrove passed the ball over to Lexi Richardson who put it into the back of the cage for her first career goal.  The Warriors continued to pressure the defense as Yael Echeverria once again got the ball over to Jocelyn Cosgrove.  Cosgrove scored once more, extending the Warriors lead to fourteen goals.  Anita Renee Rhodes scored her second goal of the evening to allow the Warriors to win the game in a 19-4 final score.
