Mount Olive, NC – Southern Wesleyan's season came to a close on Sunday evening as they fell in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament to the North Greenville Crusaders in a 68-58 final score.
The Warriors shot 35.7% from the field and were 100% from the free throw line in the loss to the Crusaders.
Allie Newberry led the team with 13 points. She was closely followed by
Lexi Greffen with 12 points and
Shelby Glance with 11. The Warriors picked up 16 assists with
Tristen Berry leading the team with six. She was followed by
Brittany Mack with five and Glance with four.
Southern Wesleyan pulled down 37 rebounds.
Caroline Reese led the team with six rebounds. Right behind Reese both
Shelby Glance and
Tristen Berry had five. Glance recorded three blocks during the game. The Warriors stole the ball away from the Crusaders 11 times. Glance led the team with six of the steals.

How It Happened
The Warriors were the first on the board as
Shelby Glance passed the ball out to
Allie Newberry who put up a jump shot from the top of the key. The Crusaders countered with a layup by Amareya Turner. The Warriors pushed on as Glance put up a turn around jump shot. However, a three point shot by Abi Oates allowed North Greenville to regain the lead.
Shelby Glance took a pass from
Tristen Berry and put down a three pointer.
Lexi Greffen put up a three pointer that bounced on the rim before dropping down into the basket to put the Warriors ahead 12-10 with just over five minutes left on the clock. Back-to-back driving layups by
Alexis Glover and
Brittany Mack pushed the Warriors ahead by six points. The Crusaders countered as Abi Oates stepped beyond the arc to hit her third three point shot of the evening.
Kimani Green laid the ball up to extend the Warriors lead to 19-13.
The Crusaders fouled
Allie Newberry early in the second quarter to force her to the free throw line. Newberry sunk both free throws to put the Warriors ahead by eight. However, a hook shot by Jayda Glass allowed North Greenville to come back to within six. Maliyah Lockett put up a jump shot. North Greenville continued to challenge as Angie Rodriguez drove the ball to the basket and laid it up. The Crusaders would not relent as a layup by Tabitha Littlefield allowed them to tie the game up at twenty-one points apiece. Free throw baskets by both
Alexis Glover and
Brooke Henricks allowed the Warriors to regain a four point lead.
Alexis Glover collated a pass from
Tristen Berry and laid the ball up at the final second to put the Warriors ahead of the Crusaders 27-23.
Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate in the third quarter as
Allie Newberry put up a jump shot. A foul on the shot allowed Newberry to take the and one free throw shot. Newberry sunk it to extend the Warriors lead to seven points. However, a three pointer by Jayda Glass and jump shot by Tabitha Littlefield put North Greenville back within two.
