How It Happened
The Valkyries attacked quickly with shots by Ellie Gore and Shelby McCutchen, but Samantha Benner thwarted each attack. Southern Wesleyan countered as Madelyn Graf weaved around the defense and sent the ball toward the net. Converse stood strong as Allie Nepomuceno saved Graf's attack from meeting the net. The Valkyries struck first as Jasmine Hernandez scored to give them the early lead. Southern Wesleyan countered as Madi Wurst threw the ball in from the sidelines right to the feet of Madelyn Graf. Graf ripped the ball into the net to tie the game at halftime.
Converse would not relent as Ellie Gore passed the ball over to Darrianne Henry. Henry put the ball into the back of the net to give the Valkyries the advantage. The Valkyries continued their attacks as Jasmine Hernandez and Kiersten Schrawyer took shots on the net, but the Warriors prevented them from extending the lead. Despite a late shot by Helen Posey, the Warriors fell to the Valkyries in a 2-1 final.
