How It Happened:
Today's battle with the Mountain Lions was much more even from the Warriors perspective. Their best chance of the night came less than five minutes into the game. Dillon Bennett picked up the ball just outside the box, cut it to his right foot, and his well-struck ball grazed the outside of the left post. Young Harris would make them pay and take the lead from the ensuing goal kick. A flick on sent the Mountain Lions into space down the left wing, and Hazma Zagmouzi whipped a ball in for Alexsi Morel in the box who made it 1-0. Young Harris found the back of the net again just seven minutes later, but it was called back for offside. The Warriors settled back into the game for the rest of the half, but didn't create many key chances apart from set pieces.
Southern Wesleyan continued to stay strong at the back in the second half, as Solomon Pitts and Feren Nunez were terrific again. However, the SWU offense didn't challenge the Young Harris defense enough. The Warriors only had one shot on target in the second half, coming in the 65th minute when Diego Hernandez picked up the ball, cut inside to his left foot, and ripped a shot from just outside the 18-yard box. The lack of chance creation prevented the Warriors from stealing a point on the road, as they fall to 1-8 in the Conference Carolinas play.
What's Next:
The Warriors get a break from Conference play on Wednesday night, as they take on Mars Hill at 6:00. Following that they host Belmont Abbey on October 21st, Erskine on October 24th, and Converse on October 28th.
