The Warriors shot 31.7% from the field and were 36.7% from beyond the arc on Saturday afternoon. Four Warriors posted double digits with
Griffin Effenberger leading the team with 18 points. He was followed by
Raevon Allen with 11, and both
Marcus Long and
Dyren Brown with 10 points. Southern Wesleyan totaled 10 assists during the game. Both
Tyrin Hollis and Long recorded four.
Southern Wesleyan collected 31 rebounds in the contest.
Dyren Brown pulled down 10, giving him his first double-double game since donning the Warrior blue colors. He was followed by

How It Happened
Chowan quickly took the lead as three point baskets by Jay Estime gave the Hawks a 6-0 point advantage. The Warriors got on the board on free throws by
Marcus Long. The Hawks would not relent as a driving layup by Skyler Davies put them ahead 10-2 with just under fifteen minutes left in the half. A three point shot out of the hands of Preston Le Gassick put the Hawks ahead by nine. Southern Wesleyan was not discouraged as
Marcus Long hit a jump shot and then
Griffin Effenberger stepped beyond the arc to hit a three point shot.
Bryson Felder collected a rebound and took the ball down the court and dunked it into the basket. The Warriors came to within one point of the Hawks on a three point basket by Effenberger. A driving layup by
Tyrin Hollis allowed the Warriors to stay within one point. Chowan challenged right back as a three pointer by Preston Le Gassick extended their lead to two. The Hawks went on to lead 28-18 at halftime.
The Hawks continued the intensity in the second half as Jay Estime hit a pull up jump shot. The Warriors countered with back-to-back three pointers by
Griffin Effenberger and
Marcus Long to put them down eleven points with just over eighteen minutes left on the clock. A three pointer by Christian Koonce extended the Hawks lead to 38-24.

The Warriors will return home on January 16 as they host the Francis Marion Patriots at 7 p.m. They will then host the Converse Valkyries on January 18 at 7 p.m. Southern Wesleyan will welcome the University of Mount Olive Trojans to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on January 21 at 4 p.m. The Warriors will host their Little Warrior Day event during the game.
