Wilson, NC – Southern Wesleyan split the doubleheader against the Barton Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors took a 4-1 run victory in game one before falling 8-4 in the second game of the afternoon.
The Warriors collected eight hits in the first game with
Addi Johnson leading the team with three.
Delaney Byers doubled,
Emmy Copeland tripled and
Sarah Prater collected her first collegiate home run in the form of a grand slam. Prater led the team with four RBIs. Southern Wesleyan walked five times and Johnson stole two bases.
Emma Collins pitched all seven innings for the Warriors and struck out seven batters.
Southern Wesleyan recorded five hits in game two with
Delaney Byers leading the team with two hits. Byers doubled twice and recorded two of the four RBIs of the game. The Warriors walked four times.
Emma Jo Wolfe started on the mound for game two.
Emma Collins came in to pitch in relief and pitched 5.1 innings while striking out six batters.

How It Happened
Game One
Southern Wesleyan took the first runs of the game in the top of the third inning.
Addi Johnson led off the inning with a single to left field and then stole second base.
Emma Jo Wolfe walked to put two runners on the base pads. With one out,
Emma Collins walked to load up the bases. With the bases loaded and two outs,
Sarah Prater drilled a home run over the left field wall to give the Warriors a 4-0 run lead.
Barton challenge in the bottom of the fourth inning as a double by Dixon plated one run. However, Southern Wesleyan stayed strong as
Emma Collins forced each of the remaining Bulldog batters out to allow the Warriors to win the game 4-1.
Game Two
Southern Wesleyan started strong in game two as
Delaney Byers doubled to left center field. With two outs,
Lydia Clanton hit a single to center field to bring Byers in to score and put the Warriors ahead 1-0.
Barton challenged right back as they brought six runs in to score in the bottom of the first inning.
The Warriors came within two runs of the Bulldogs in the top of the second inning. With one out,
Sarah Prater walked. A fielding error allowed
Haley Bertie to reach first and advanced Prater to second.
Delaney Byers then doubled to left center to bring both Bertie and Prater in to score. With two out and Byers on second,
Addi Johnson walked. A single by
Emma Jo Wolfe brought Byers in to put the Warriors behind the Bulldogs 6-4.
Barton went on to score in the bottom of the second and fifth innings to win the game in an 8-4 final score.
