Southern Wesleyan picked up the doubles point on Saturday as two of their teams claimed double victories.
Anya King and
Maria Aspasia Kotsiou played in the number one doubles position and defeated the team of Esperance Follykoue and Patricia Wamba 6-2. The number three doubles team of
Camille Cunningham and
Claire Blackwell defeated the team of Olivia Simms and Gabriela Zelaya 7-6 to give the Warriors their second doubles point.
In singles action,
Maria Aspasia Kotsiou,
Ashley Dube and
Claire Blackwell claimed victories for the Warriors. Playing number two singles, Kotsiou defeated Patricia Wamba 7-6 and 6-4.
Ashley Dube followed Kotsiou in the win column as she defeated Shakendra Alston 6-4 and 6-2. Freshman
Claire Blackwell clinched the match for the Warriors as she defeated Olivia Simms 6-1 and 6-3 to give the Warriors their first victory of the season.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Gaffney, SC on February 17 to take on the Limestone Saints at 1:30 p.m. They will remain on the road on February 19 as they travel to Mars Hill, NC to take on the Mars Hill Lions. The Warriors will then return to Rev Leroy C Cox Tennis Complex on February 26 to host the Johnson C Smith Golden Bulls at noon.
