Greenwood, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Lander Bearcats on Saturday afternoon in an 104-78 final score.
The Warriors shot 44.8% from the field and were 48.1% from beyond the arc. Freshman
Bryson Felder led the team with 17 points. He was followed by
Marcus Long and
Wilvens Fleurizard with 11 points each. Southern Wesleyan picked up 10 assists with
Josh Martin leading the team with three.
Tyrin Hollis recorded two steals. Southern Wesleyan had 26 rebounds with Fleurizard, Felder, and
Griffin Effenberger each picking up four. The Warriors blocked the Bearcats attacks four time with Effenberger leading the team with two. Both Long and
Jamal Edmonson also recorded blocks.

How It Happened
The Bearcats took the first point on free throw Navaughn Maise, but a three point shot by
Griffin Effenberger allowed the Warriors to take the lead. Lander charged ahead as back-to-back three pointers by DeAndre Robinson allowed them to take a 10-3 point advantage.
Tariq Shabazz got the ball out past the arc to
Bryson Felder who put the ball into the basket. Southern Wesleyan continued to chip away at Lander's lead as
Jamal Edmonson and
Josh Martin knocked down back-to-back three point shots. Martin collected a rebound off of missed shot by Dominic Stanford and passed the ball under the net to
Wilvens Fleurizard. Fleurizard laid the ball up to put the Warriors down 22-15. Lander extended their lead, but Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge with back-to-back layups by Felder and Fleurizard. Despite three point shots by
Wilvens Fleurizard and
Marcus Long, the Warriors trailed the Bearcats 54-32 at halftime.
Lander kicked off the second half with a three point shot by Deandre Robinson. The Bearcats continued to push ahead of the Warriors as Navaughn Maise dunked the ball into the basket. Southern Wesleyan challenged the Lander attacks with jump shots by both
Jamal Edmonson and
Bryson Felder to put the Warriors down 64-36. A layup by Jared Sherfield allowed the Bearcats to extend their lead to thirty points with just under fifteen minutes left in the second half.
Aria Eskandari stepped behind the arc and sunk a three point shot.
Tyrin Hollis stole the ball away from the Bearcats and took the ball down to the arc, stepping behind it before sinking a three point shot to put the Warriors down 81-49 to Lander. Back-to-back three point shots by
Marcus Long and Hollis allowed the Warriors to take away the Bearcats thirty points advantage with just under eight minutes left on the clock. Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge with a last second layup by
Bryson Felder, but Lander went on to win the game in an 104-78 final.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will host their home opener on Wednesday, November 16 at 7 p.m. as they welcome the University of North Georgia Nighthawks to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium. They will then travel to Jefferson City, TN on November 19 to take on the Carson-Newman Eagles at 2 p.m. The Warriors will open up Conference Carolinas action on the road on November 22 as they will travel to Wilson, NC to take on the Barton Bulldogs.
