How It Happened
Set One
North Greenville attacked early as Paige Campbell put down a kill, however a kill by
Amber Bass allowed the Warriors to tie the set up 1-1. Kills by Bass and
Riley Young gave the Warriors a 4-3 point advantage. Southern Wesleyan pushed ahead on an ace by Bass and a kill by
Abigail Gannaio. An assisted block by
Riley Young and
Trinity Eichman allowed the Warriors to take a five point lead. North Greenville fought back as a kill by Ashlyn Conner put them within two points of Southern Wesleyan. The Crusaders took the lead on kills by Abigail Durham and Paige Campbell.
Riley Young collected kills to put the Warriors down 16-20. North Greenville went on to win the first set 25-16.
Set Two
The Crusaders took an early lead as Ashlyn Conner collected a service ace. Kills by Abigail Durham allowed North Greenville to extend their lead to 7-1.
Tiyonnah Brown put down a kill to allow the Warriors to come to 12-2 behind the Crusaders. North Greenville continued to push ahead with blocks by Conner and Paige Campbell. Despite a kill by
Abigail Gannaio, the Crusaders took the second set 25-7.
Set Three
North Greenville took a 2-0 point lead on kills by Emilie Allen and Taya Knier. Southern Wesleyan countered with a kill by
Amber Bass to put them within two of the Crusaders. The Warriors continued to challenge with a kill by
Abigail Gannaio and an ace by
Ashley Sexton to put them down 10-9. The Crusaders continued to push ahead, but kills by Gannaio and
Tiyonnah Brown allowed the Warriors to stay within two points. Southern Wesleyan tied the set up on kills by
Amber Bass and
Cara Martin. The Warriors challenged North Greenville's every attack as they stayed within two points of the Crusaders. Despite kills by
Amber Bass and
Trinity Eichman, the Crusaders took the final set in a 25-23 final score.
What's Next
The Warriors will return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on October 15 as they host the King Tornado at 2 p.m. They will then travel to Florence, SC to take on the Francis Marion Patriots at 6 p.m. on October 17. Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on October 19 as they travel to Banner Elk, NC to take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats.
