How It Happened

Belmont Abbey struck first in the second quarter as Jo Snow made a three, but the Warriors countered as Sasha Schoenborn collected the ball and raced down the court on a fast break to lay the ball up.  The Crusaders increased their attack as they scored seventeen straight points before a three point shot by Loensha Lee put the Warriors down 34-17.  Despite a lay-up by Allie Newberry, the Warriors trailed 22-46 at halftime.

A layup by Kelli Thomas pushed the Crusaders' lead to 48-22.  Sasha Schoenborn stepped beyond the arc to make a three to put the Warriors within twenty-five points.  Belmont Abbey would not let up their attacks as layups by Peyton Nation and Jo Snow extended their lead to thirty-two points with five minutes left in the third quarter.  Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge the Crusaders' lead as both Brooke Henricks and Brittany Mack made baskets to make the score 60-34.  Despite a late basket by Schoenborn, the Warriors continued to trail the Crusaders after three quarters.

The Crusaders continued to extend their lead in the final quarter as Peyton Nation made free throws to put them on top 68-43.  Sasha Schoenborn made three pointers to put them within thirty points, and then seconds later Brittany Mack laid the ball up to cut the Crusaders' lead down to 78-50.  Despite a last second three point shot by Tristen Berry, the Warriors fell to the Crusaders in an 82-55 point final.
