How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan took the first shot of the game off the foot of Jose Rangel, but Francis Marion countered as Sam Pollard put the ball into the back of the net after seven minutes of play to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead.  The Patriots maintained the intensity with several more shots, but the Warriors thwarted their attempts at extending their lead.  Austin Snow and Hykeem Martin sent in back-to-back shots on goal, but Felipe de Moraes put himself between the ball and the net every time to keep the Warriors from tying the game up.  The Patriots would not let up their attacks as Javier Bello took a pass from Oliver Peters to give Francis Marion a 2-0 lead at half.

The Warriors maintained their intensity in the second half as Tipton Wright sent the ball to the net, but the Patriots defense blocked Southern Wesleyan's attacks.  Francis Marion countered minutes later as Kimo Lemke and Javier Bello scored back-to-back goals seconds apart to give the Patriots a 4-0 goal advantage.  Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge with attacks by Feren Nunez, Pedro Fonseca, Hykeem Martin and Diego Hernandez, but Francis Marion's defense continued to divert every attack to keep Southern Wesleyan off the board.  The Patriots maintained their attack, winning the game in an 8-0 final score.
