Wilson, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell in the first round of the Conference Carolinas tournament to the Barton Bulldogs in a 23-6 final score on Wednesday evening.
The Warriors collected 10 hits in the loss to the Bulldogs.
Josh Galloway led the team with two hits. Both Galloway and
DJ Ludwick doubled, and
Tanner Glass had a home run. Three Warriors walked during the game. Glass started on the mound for the Warriors with
TJ McEvilly,
Aaron Bennett,
Aaron Wimpey and
Vinny Adams coming in to pitch in relief. Southern Wesleyan collected four strikeouts.

How It Happened
Barton struck early in the bottom of the first inning as Ford hit a home run to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs continued to push ahead with eight more runs to put them ahead 9-0 at the end of the first.
Southern Wesleyan would not be discouraged as
Hunter Garlington led off with a single through the left side. A failed pick-off attempt leading to an error allowed Garlington to advance to third base. With Garlington at third,
Tyler Rogers flew out to right field to bring Garlington in to put the Warriors on the board.
Sean Sutay singled to center field and then advanced to third as
DJ Ludwick doubled down the third base line. With two on,
Juan Garcia hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring Sutay home.
Tanner Glass homered to deep left field to bring Ludwick in and put the Warriors down 9-4.
The Bulldogs remained on the offensive as they brought three more runs in to score in the bottom of the third inning to take a12-4 run advantage. Barton continued to push ahead, taking their lead to 23-4 by the top of the ninth inning.
The Warriors continued to fight in the top of the ninth inning.
Will Pitts pinch hit for
Hunter Garlington and then singled up the middle. With
Sawyer Price pinch running for Pitts,
Angelo Pahila singled to put two on with no one out.
Nolan Steevens reached first on a field error by the third baseman to load up the bases. With the bases full of Warriors,
Dawson Gilstrap singled up the middle to bring Price in to score. A walk to
Dawson Posick allowed Pahila to come in and put the Warriors down 6-23. However, the Bulldogs went on to win the game 6-23
