Wilson, NC – Southern Wesleyan dropped the final game of pool on Wednesday afternoon against the Barton Bulldogs in a 4-1 final.
The Warriors recorded nine shots and seven shots on goal in the loss to the Bulldogs.
Ashley Allen,
Bryanna Pickens and
Joy Namyst each recorded two shots, with Pickens leading them with two shots on goal. Pickens had the lone goal of the game with
Molly Wanning posting the lone assist.
Samantha Benner started the game in goal, collecting nine saves over sixty-two minutes of play.
Taylor Hanzel closed out the game in the goal and had four saves.

How It Happened
Barton charged out of the gate as Kassie Krul and Lexis Goldberg took shots, but
Samantha Benner and the Warriors defense saved the ball to keep the Bulldogs from taking the lead. Southern Wesleyan continued to deter Barton's attacks.
Joy Namyst countered as she took a shot on goal, but Megan Bolick refused to allow the Warriors to take the lead. The Bulldogs would not let up as Hailey Russell passed the ball to Goldberg, who put it into the net to give Barton a 1-0 lead at half.
The Bulldogs continued to push ahead on a goal by Russell to extend the Barton lead to 2-0. Southern Wesleyan would not let up though as
Bryanna Pickens took several shots on goal, but Megan Bolick and the Bulldogs continued to thwart their attacks. The Warriors would not stop as
Molly Wanning sent a corner kick into box. Pickens collected the ball and headed it into the net to cut the Bulldogs lead in half. Barton maintained the pressure as they scored against seconds later to put them ahead 3-1. The Bulldogs scored again with two minutes remaining to give them a 4-1 victory.
