How It Happened

The Crusaders attacked early, but Kaeleigh McDaniel saved the ball to keep North Greenville off the board.  The Warriors countered as Betsy Bovee put the ball into the back of the cage to give Southern Wesleyan a 1-0 lead.  Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead as a foul in the eight meter allowed Amy Pfefferkorn to take a free position attempt.  Pfefferkorn drilled the ball into the goal to extend Southern Wesleyan's lead to 2-0.  North Greenville countered to cut Southern Wesleyan's lead in half, but a second goal by Pefferkorn allowed the Warriors to maintain their two goal lead.  Back-to-back goals by Rachel Kellogg and Olivia Foltz allowed the Crusaders to tie the game up.  North Greenville continued to push ahead, taking a 5-3 goal lead at halftime.

North Greenville charged out of the gate in the second half, extending their lead to 7-3 on goals by Ashley Thatcher and Emma Mayew.  The Warriors would not let up as Tabitha Beecher and Jocelyn Cosgrove each took shots, but their shots went wide.  Kellogg put the ball into the cage to give the Crusaders a five goal lead.  With fifteen minutes left in the second half, Cosgrove passed the ball over to Kelsey Hawkins who put it into the goal to put the Warriors down 4-10.  Despite several shots on goal by Bovee and Beecher, North Greenville continued to push ahead and won the game in a 16-4 final.
