Tigerville, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the North Greenville Crusaders in the Conference Carolinas Quarterfinals on Tuesday in a 16-4 final score.
The Warriors recorded 16 shots and nine shots on goal in the loss to the Crusaders. Amy Pefferkorn led the team with four shots on goal while
Betsy Bovee followed with three. Pfefferkorn had two goals with Bovee and
Kelsey Hawkins following with one. Both
Jocelyn Cosgrove and
Yael Echeverria had assists.
Southern Wesleyan collected seven draw controls with
Jairy Sandoval leading the team with four.
Haylee Cureton caused two of the five turnovers. The Warriors had 12 ground balls during the game.
Kaeleigh McDaniel played all sixty minutes in goal, collecting 13 saves in the process.

How It Happened
The Crusaders attacked early, but
Kaeleigh McDaniel saved the ball to keep North Greenville off the board. The Warriors countered as
Betsy Bovee put the ball into the back of the cage to give Southern Wesleyan a 1-0 lead. Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead as a foul in the eight meter allowed
Amy Pfefferkorn to take a free position attempt. Pfefferkorn drilled the ball into the goal to extend Southern Wesleyan's lead to 2-0. North Greenville countered to cut Southern Wesleyan's lead in half, but a second goal by Pefferkorn allowed the Warriors to maintain their two goal lead. Back-to-back goals by Rachel Kellogg and Olivia Foltz allowed the Crusaders to tie the game up. North Greenville continued to push ahead, taking a 5-3 goal lead at halftime.
North Greenville charged out of the gate in the second half, extending their lead to 7-3 on goals by Ashley Thatcher and Emma Mayew. The Warriors would not let up as
Tabitha Beecher and
Jocelyn Cosgrove each took shots, but their shots went wide. Kellogg put the ball into the cage to give the Crusaders a five goal lead. With fifteen minutes left in the second half, Cosgrove passed the ball over to
Kelsey Hawkins who put it into the goal to put the Warriors down 4-10. Despite several shots on goal by Bovee and Beecher, North Greenville continued to push ahead and won the game in a 16-4 final.
