Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the University of Mount Olive Trojans on Thursday evening in a 3-0 final.
The Warriors collected 23 kills in the loss to the Trojans.

How It Happened
Set One
The Warriors kicked off the game with a kill by
Olivia Johnson, but a kill by Camryn Huber allowed the Trojans to tie the first set up 1-1. Mount Olive pulled ahead, but a kill by
Danairi Malave and ace by
Jesse Soles allowed Southern Wesleyan to tie the set back up. Another kill by Johnson allowed the Warriors to take a 9-8 point advantage. Southern Wesleyan remained alert, furthering their lead to 15-14 on kills by Malave and
Emily Ellis. The Warriors continued to challenge, but, despite a kill by
Ashlyn Holford, the Trojans won the first set 25-22.
Set Two
Mount Olive charged out of the gate in the second set of the match, taking an early 2-0 lead on a kill and ace by Star Sergent.
Olivia Johnson laid down a kill to cut the Trojans lead on half. The Trojans maintained the pressure, pushing their lead to 5-1 on kills by Huber and Ele'sia Williams. A kill by
Emily Ellis allowed the Warriors to come to 4-9 behind the Trojans. Mount Olive pushed further ahead to win the second set 25-10.
Set Three
Southern Wesleyan took an early 2-0 lead on kills by
Olivia Johnson. The Trojans countered, but another kill by Johnson put the Warriors on top 3-1. Mount Olive maintained the pressure with kills by Huber and Amara Eziakonwa to tie the set up at three points apiece. The Warriors extended their lead to 13-9 with kills by Johnson and an ace by
Ashlyn Holford.
Zharia Harris laid down a kill to keep the Warriors on top by four. Mount Olive went on a run to put them within two, and then a kill by Huber allowed them to tie it up 22-22. Despite a kill by Johnson, the Trojans claimed the final set in a 27-25 point victory.
