How It Happened

Game One

Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead in the top of the second inning as Emma Jo Wolfe singled to the pitcher, but was then out as Delaney Byers reached on a fielder's choice.  With one on and one out, Savannah Huff singled up the middle to advance Byers to second.  Emma Collins followed with a single to bring Byers in and put the lead at 3-0.

In the fourth inning, the Warriors extended their lead further.  Delaney Byers reached first on a dropped third strike and then advanced to second on a single by Megan New down the right field line.  Haley Bertie came in to pinch run for New.  Emma Collins followed with a walk to load up the bases.  With the bases loaded, Addi Johnson grounded out on a sacrifice bunt to score Byers.  With two on, a walk to Lydia Clanton loaded up the bases once again.  A fielding error allowed Ashton Martin to reach and brought both Collins and Bertie home.  Claire Ellison followed with a double to left field that allowed both Martin and Clanton to score and give the Warriors an 8-0 run advantage.

S.C. Beaufort countered in the bottom of the fourth inning.  With two on, Domingue reached first on a fielding error that brought one run in.  The Sand Sharks brought another run, but the Warriors went on to win the game 8-2.
