Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Emmanuel Lions in a 92-52 final score on Tuesday evening.
The Warriors shot 30.2% from the field in the loss to the Lions.
Lonesha Lee led the team with 14 points while
Amy Soumare followed with 10 points.
Tristen Berry and
Halee Morrison each had two assists. The Warriors collected 25 rebounds with both Lee and Soumare leading the team with six rebounds each. Two Warriors had blocks during the game. Soumare posted three of the seven steals.

How It Happened
The Lions charged out of the gate, going on a 9-0 run before a jump shot by
Amy Soumare put the Warriors on the board. Emmanuel continued to extend their lead on layups by Jazmin Allen. A layup by
Sasha Schoenborn and
Brooke Henricks put the Warriors behind 21-8.
Allen laid the ball up to kick off the second quarter for Emmanuel, but Southern Wesleyan countered on a three pointer by
Brooke Henricks to keep the Warriors within fourteen. Breanna Locke and Brooke Whitaker made baskets to put Emmanuel on top 36-13 despite a jump shot by Schoenborn.
Essence Sims made free throws to put the Warriors behind the Lions 47-15 at halftime.
Layups by Whitaker kicked off the third quarter for the Lions, but the Warriors countered on layups by Soumare and
Lonesha Lee. Trailing 55-19, Sims laid the ball up to put the Warriors down thirty-four. Emmanuel was not done, pushing their lead to 40 on a layup by Locke.
Tristen Berry sunk a three point shot to start the final quarter for Southern Wesleyan. A jump shot by Soumare put the Warriors down 74-35. However, a layup by Jeanetta Elder allowed the Lions to push their lead to 81-35. Despite late layups by Lee and Sims, the Warriors fell to the Lions 92-52.

Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the 2021 season on February 25 as they welcome the Erskine Flying Fleet to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium.
