How It Happened

Francis Marion charged out of the gate as Tionne Rollins sunk back-to-back baskets to give the Patriots the early 5-0 lead.  The Warriors countered with a layup by Davion Bradford to cut into the Patriots lead.  They maintained the pressure as Ta'Jay Dunlap stepped beyond the arc and collected a pass from Arusha Hunter before sinking a three to tie the game up.  The Warriors took the lead shortly afterwards as Dunlap stole the ball away and passed it down the court to Bradford.  Bradford stepped past the arc and fired up a three to put the Warriors on top 8-5.  Southern Wesleyan was not threatened as they answered Francis Marion's challenges with a three by Julian Cameron.  The Patriots countered the Warriors attacks as a three by Rollins put them back on top.  However, back-to-back layups by Hunter Davis and Tranard Ferrell allowed Southern Wesleyan to regain the lead with just under ten minutes left in the first half.  The Patriots continued to challenge, but the Warriors continued to distance themselves with layups by Ferrell and Davis.  Back-to-back three pointers by Arusha Hunter and Julian Cameron put the Warriors ahead 29-20.  Jonah Pierce laid the ball up in the paint to cut into the Warriors eleven-point lead.  Baskets by Ta'Jay Dunlap pushed the Warriors to a 36-22 point lead at the half.

The Patriots struck first in the second half as Jonah Pierce laid the ball up.  Ta'Jay Dunlap collected a rebound and passed the ball up to Davion Bradford who laid the ball up on a fast break to give Southern Wesleyan a fifteen point lead.  Francis Marion fought back on baskets by Pierce.  Southern Wesleyan would not relent as Hunter Davis laid the ball up and Julian Cameron stepped beyond the arc to make a three point shot.  Arusha Hunter took a pass from Bradford and sunk a three to put Southern Wesleyan's lead at 48-28.  The Warriors blocked the Patriots counter-attacks, extending their lead to twenty-two points on a jump shot by Tranard Ferrell.  Nick Silva made a jump shot to put the Patriots back within twenty points, however it was short lived as Dunlap passed the ball down low to Hunter Davis who laid the ball up in the paint.  Southern Wesleyan shut down the Francis Marion attacks and stole the ball away as layups by Dunlap and Davis pushed their lead up to 59-34.  Nieja Jordan laid the ball up for the Patriots, but a dunk by Davion Bradford kept the Warriors on top by twenty-five.  Southern Wesleyan shut down the Francis Marion attacks and pushed their lead further ahead as Brendan Hoban passed the ball down to Davis, who laid the ball up to put the Warriors' lead at 68-38.  Baskets by Raevon Allen allowed the Warriors to claim a 75-38 point victory.
