Tigerville, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the North Greenville Crusaders on the road on Tuesday evening in a 73-70 final score.
The Warriors shot 41.9% from the field and went 88.9% from the free throw line in the loss to the Crusaders.
Ta'Jay Dunlap led the team with 33 points while going 5-9 at beyond the arc. His 33 points is a career game high for him. Dunlap was followed by
Demarcus Addie with 13 points. Southern Wesleyan collected nine assists with both Addie and
Hunter Davis having two.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan jumped out early as
Ta'Jay Dunlap sunk a ball from beyond the arc, however North Greenville countered with jump shots by Draylan Burton and Caleb Williams to put them on top 6-3. The lead was short lived as Dunlap sunk his second three of the evening to tie it up at six points apiece. Southern Wesleyan pushed ahead as
Demarcus Addie scored from beyond the arc to give the Warriors a three point advantage. They continued to push ahead as
Davion Bradford collected a steal from Dunlap and charged down the court on a fast break, laying the ball up to put the Warriors on top 11-6. Back-to-back baskets by Bradford and Dunlap allowed the Warriors to extend their lead to nine points before Kameron Hobbs and Burton scored to put the Crusaders within five. Southern Wesleyan would not relent on their attacks as
Demarcus Addie sunk back-to-back threes to put the Warriors back on top by nine with just over twelve minutes left in the first half. Three pointers by
Julian Cameron and Dunlap push the Warriors lead to 29-15, but the Crusaders challenged back with a three by Jacob Redding to put them back within eleven. The eleven point differential was short lived as
Brendan Hoban stepped beyond the arc and sunk a three to make the score 36-22. North Greenville would not go down quietly as they chipped away at Southern Wesleyan's lead, coming to within two points on a three point shot by CJ Jamison. However,
Arusha Hunter stole the ball away and laid it up on a fast break in the paint to give the Warriors a 40-39 point lead at halftime.
The Warriors kicked off the second half with a layup by
Solomon Smith to put them back on top by three, but the Crusaders countered on a three pointer by Jamison to tie the game up 42-42. North Greenville pushed ahead, taking the lead on free throws by Caleb Williams. However, the Warriors were not discouraged as
Hunter Davis laid the ball up to tie the game back up at forty-six points apiece. The Crusaders challenged the Warriors every lead, but the Warriors fought back on baskets by
Ta'Jay Dunlap to put them back on top 50-48. North Greenville did not back down on their attacks as a jump shot by Joe Conley kept the Crusaders within two, but
Hunter Davis laid the ball up off a pass from
Arusha Hunter to give the Warriors a four point advantage with just over eleven minutes left. The Warriors continued to push ahead with three point baskets by Dunlap, but the Crusaders challenged Southern Wesleyan's lead throughout as a three point shot by Kameron Hobbs kept them within four. The Crusaders tied the game back up 66-66 on a jumper by Joe Conley. Despite late free throws by Dunlap, the Crusaders pressed ahead to win the game 73-70.

The Warriors will remain on the road on December 3 as they travel to Spartanburg, SC to take on the Converse Valkyries at 7 p.m. They will then travel to Bristol, TN to take on the King Tornado on December 11. Southern Wesleyan will travel to Due West, SC on December 15 to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet, before returning to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on December 18 to host the Francis Marion Patriots in Central, SC at 4 p.m.
