Banner Elk, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell in their final game of the season to the Lees-McRae Bobcats in a 5-0 final.

The Warriors collected four shots in the loss.  Hope Robson had the lone shot on goal for Southern Wesleyan.  Samantha Benner started in goal for the Warriors and collected four saves.  Taylor Hanzel closed out the game for Southern Wesleyan and had one save.

How It Happened

Lees-McRae took an early lead in the game as Pali Smith scored on a shot to high center.  They continued the attack to extend their lead to 2-0 with just over thirty minutes left on a goal by Alexa Todd.  Trailing by three, Bella Hanzel and Bryanna Pickens took shots, but both attacks sailed high to keep the Warriors off the board.  However, the Warriors trailed the Bobcats 3-0 at the half.

The Bobcats continued the intensity in the second half of the game.  The Warriors increased their intensity as Hope Robson took a shot on goal, but Haile Desmarais saved the attack to keep Southern Wesleyan from cutting into their lead.  However, Lees-McRae pushed further ahead on a goal by Taylor Barrineau to take a 4-0 goal advantage.  Despite several challenges by the Warriors, they fell to the Bobcats 5-0.
