How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan kicked off the game against Barton with a jump shot by Emily Waters to give them a 2-0 lead over the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs pushed ahead on baskets by Michelle Gainey and Shanika Peterkin to put them on top 4-2. A jump shot by Waters allowed the Warriors to tie the game up, but Barton regained the lead on a 3-pointer by Summer Baer. Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge with baskets by Tanayja Williams and Waters, but the Bulldogs went on a run to take a ten point lead over the Warriors.
Barton continued to put on the pressure as Michelle Gainey put up a layup to keep the Bulldogs at a 10-point advantage. The Bulldogs continued to push ahead as Khayla Mitchell sunk a 3-point shot to give Barton a 32-12 point lead over Southern Wesleyan. Southern Wesleyan countered as Caroline Reese made a layup and Aneysa Williams made two free throws to put the Warriors behind the Bulldogs 16-34. Barton continued to push their lead, scoring 10 more points before Reese laid the ball up to put the Warriors back on the board.
Barton took the first points of the third quarter, but Southern Wesleyan would not be discouraged as Aneysa Williams sunk a three pointer and Denisha Hall made a layup to put them behind the Bulldogs 29-51. A layup by Peterkin allowed the Bulldogs to take a thirty point lead over the Warriors. Southern Wesleyan challenged right back as Hall and Emily Waters made baskets and then Brooke Henricks made a three point shot to put the Warriors down 36-61.
The Bulldogs took the first points of the final quarter, but the Warriors countered with a free throw by Denisha Hall. Lisana Burnett took a pass from Aneysa Williams and laid the ball up to put the Warriors down 44-80. Despite trailing the Bulldogs, the Warriors continued to push ahead with baskets by Caroline Reese. Barton would not be threatened as they charged ahead, going on to win the game 103-56.

Southern Wesleyan will conclude the regular season on February 25 as they welcome the Erskine Flying Fleet at 5:30. The Warriors will celebrate their seniors during the game.
