Box Score Central, S.C. - Southern Wesleyan fell to the Chowan Hawks in a 92-89 final on Wednesday evening.
The Warriors shot 56.7% from the field in the loss. Ta'Jay Dunlap led the team with 29 points and he was followed by Clenzo Ross with 15 and Cameron Holmes with 14. TJ Harvin had three assists on the night and Dunlap had two as both guys led the team in those categories. Southern Wesleyan had 22 rebounds in the game with Dunlap leading the team with five.

How It Happened
The Hawks would get on the board first, but Solomon Smith would counter with a layup to even the score. Cameron Holmes would then knock down a 3-pointer to put the Warriors ahead 5-4. The score would tie several times throughout the first half and Clenzo Ross' free throw and layup would be the basket that tied it at 10-10 and 12-12. The Warriors would play chase before Smith's layup put them back on top at 19-18. Ta'Jay Dunlap would go on to score two straight baskets and keep Southern Wesleyan ahead at 34-31. The Hawks would pull ahead late in the first half and lead 43-39 going into halftime.
Dunlap's 3-pointer would start off the second half and pull the Warriors within one. Chowan regained the lead momentarily, but Dunlap and Smith's shots would put Southern Wesleyan in front as they led 49-48. The Hawks would make a push that would tie the game and give them the momentum to work into a more comfortable lead. The Warriors would trail for several minutes, but with less than five minutes remaining, the Warriors began to dig in. Dunlap and Jalen Lowery made shots to pull within four. Dunlap's next layup would put them trailing by one at 76-79. Smith would make a last second basket, but it was not enough as the Hawks went on to win the game 92-89.

Southern Wesleyan travels to Wilson, N.C. on February 22 to take on the Barton Bulldogs at 4 p.m. They will then return home to conclude the regular season on February 25 as they host the Erskine Flying Fleet at 7:30 p.m.
