The Warriors shot 32.1% from the field and went 69.2% from the free throw line in the loss to the Lions. Emily Waters led the team with 16 points. She was followed by Lisana Burnett and Denisha Hall with eight points each. Burnett led the team with two of the six assists.

"We need to continue to work on competing for a full game. Going 0 for 10 from the 3-point range did not help going into the half and our response to the 3rd quarter was poor. We had opportunities and we missed on them and credit to Emmanuel for executing on our missed opportunities."
How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan kicked off the game with a jump shot by Emily Waters to give them a 2-0 advantage over Emmanuel. The Warriors continued to push ahead as Waters sunk another basket before the Lions countered with a layup by Brooke Whitaker. Free throws by Ajah Taylor and Whitaker allowed Emmanuel to take a 6-4 lead over Southern Wesleyan. Emmanuel continued to extend their lead before Denisha Hall made a layup to put the Warriors down four and make the score 10-6.
Free throws by Emily Waters allowed the Warriors to put the first points on the board in the second quarter, making the score 10-15. They continued to chip away with a layup by Denisha Hall, but a jump shot by Mari Jonassen put the Lions on top 17-12. The Warriors and Lions continued to back and fourth, each countered the others made baskets. Despite a layup by Tanayja Williams, the Warriors trailed the Lions 29-20 at halftime.
The Lions charged out of the gate in the third quarter as Breanna Locke and Mari Jonassen put Emmanuel up 33-20. The Warriors countered Emmanuel's run with a layup by Lisana Burnett to make the score 34-22. Despite several more baskets, Southern Wesleyan continued to put up a fight with a 3-point shot by Caroline Reese and a layup by Emily Waters.
Emily Waters sunk a jump shot to kick the final quarter off, but a layup by Ajah Taylor allowed the Lions to maintain the 20-point advantage. Free throws by Tanayja Williams and Waters put Southern Wesleyan down 59-37. Emmanuel continued to push ahead, but a 3-pointer by Brooke Henricks kept the Warriors within twenty. Despite a last second layup by Aynastee Frederick, the Warriors dropped the game to the Lions 66-47.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on February 1 as they welcome the Limestone Saints to the court at 2 p.m. They will then travel to Franklin Springs, GA to take on the Emmanuel Lions on February 5 at 5:30 p.m. They will remain on the road on February 8 to take on the Converse Valkyries.
