Box Score Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in conference action to the Barton Bulldogs in a 101-33 final score on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors shot 23.1% from the field in the loss to the Bulldogs. Denisha Hall led the team with nine points. She was followed by Aneysa Williams and Lisana Burnett with seven points each. Emily Waters and Diamond Ellison had the lone assists of the day. The Warriors posted 26 rebounds with Ellison and Madi Hartgrove leading the team with five each. Burnett led the team with three steals.

How It Happened
Barton jumped out early as Summer Baer sunk a 3-pointer, but the Warriors countered with a jump shot by Aneysa Williams. The Bulldogs charged ahead, as Baer made a free throw to give them a 9-4 lead. Denisha Hall made a layup to break Barton's streak and put Southern Wesleyan down 14-6. Barton continued to pressure Southern Wesleyan, taking a 21-6 point lead before Lisana Burnett made a 3-point shot to put the Warriors down 21-9.
Summer Baer hit a 3-pointer to kick off the second quarter to put Barton on top 32-9. Southern Wesleyan fought back going on a six point run to come to 32-15 behind Barton. The Bulldogs shut down the Warriors offense as Baer and Michelle Gainey scored to give them a 39-15 point advantage. The Warriors closed out the first half with free throws by Aneysa Williams to put the Warriors down 50-20.
Barton continued to charge ahead as they took a 37-point lead over Southern Wesleyan. However, the Warriors continued to challenge on a jump shot by Lisana Burnett and a layup by Emily Waters to put Southern Wesleyan down 64-24.
A layup by Shanika Peterkin put Barton up 79-24 at the start of the fourth quarter. However, Diamond Ellison sunk a 3-pointer to challenge the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs continued to push ahead on a layup by Peterkin and a 3-pointer by Kia Morris. Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge as Denisha Hall made back-to-back layups. Barton went on to win 101-33.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on Monday, January 20 as they host the University of Mount Olive Trojans at 2 p.m. They will then travel to Chowan to take on the Hawks on January 25 at 2 p.m. The Warriors will return home on January 29 to host the Emmanuel Lions.
