Box Score Bristol, TN – Southern Wesleyan dropped their midweek contest against the King Tornado in a 75-62 final.
The Warriors shot 43.1% from the field and were 71.4% from the free throw line in the loss to the Tornado. Emily Waters led the team with 19 points. She was followed by Lisana Burnett with 14 and Denisha Hall with 11. Brooke Henricks led the team with four of the 12 assists. She was followed by Waters with three.
The Warriors recorded 37 rebounds during the contest, with Brooke Henricks leading the team with nine. Three Warriros followed with six rebounds apiece. Emily Waters and Lisana Burnett each recorded two steals during the game. Burnett went on to lead the team in blocks with four. She was followed by Waters with two.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gates with back to back baskets by Emily Waters to give them a 4-0 advantage. They maintained the pressure as Brooke Henricks stole the ball away and passed it up to Lisana Burnett. Burnett sunk it into the net to give the Warriors an 8-0 lead. However, the Tornado quickly countered, going on a nine point run to take the lead. The lead was short lived as Aneysa Williams sunk a 3-pointer to put the Warriors on top 11-9. The Tornados would not be dissuaded, regaining the lead on a free throw by Kori West. A late layup by Brooke Henricks put the Warriors down 17-24 at the end of the first quarter.
King took the first basket of the second quarter as Trinity Lee made a three point shot to give the Tornado a 10-point advantage. Southern Wesleyan countered with a layup by Denisha Hall and a 3-pointer by Aneysa Williams to make the score 22-27. The Warriors continued to press ahead as Brooke Henricks passed the ball up to Lisana Burnett who put it in the net to put the Warriors down 24-32. Hall was fouled on a shot to bring her to the free throw line to cut the deficit to 25-34. Despite a layup by Burnett, the Warriors trailed 27-36 at the half.
The Tornado scored back-to-back baskets to extend their lead to 40-27, however the Warriors countered with a jump shot by Denisha Hall to cut the King lead to 29-40. Lisana Burnett stole the ball away and rushed down the court to lay the ball up to put the Warriors down 35-46. King continud to push ahead of the Warriors, but Brooke Henricks drew a foul and made both free throws to put the Warriors down 39-53.
Emily Waters kicked off the final quarter with good free throws, and then Tanayja Williams passed the ball up to Lisana Burnett who laid it up to make the score 45-57. The Tornado countered, but Emily Water made a layup to put the Warriors within 13-points of King. Tanayja Williams spun around the Tornado defense to lay the ball up and make the score 49-60. Despite baskets by Brooke Henricks and Denisha Hall, the Warriors fell to the Tornado 62-75.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on December 14 as they take on the Limestone Saints at 2 p.m. They will then return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on December 18 to host the Lees-McRae Bobcats at 5:30 p.m.
