Box Score CENTRAL, S.C. – The Warriors fell to the North Greenville Crusaders in Conference Carolinas competition on Wednesday evening in a final score of 80-56.
Darius Sharpe led the Warriors with 16 points in the loss. He was followed by De'Quan Weldon with 13 points. Southern Wesleyan posted a 33.9% field goal percentage and went 8-14 at the free throw line. Kevin Stamps led the team in assists with three of the seven made by the Warriors. Stamps was followed by Sharpe with two.
Southern Wesleyan posted 34 rebounds in the loss to the Crusaders. Kevin Stamps and Zalan Richards led the Warriors with seven apiece. They were followed by De'Quan Weldon with six and Darius Sharpe with five. Stamps led the team with two blocks in the loss. Sharpe, Richards, and JT Noellert each had a steal against the Crusaders.

"We gave it our best shot. Getting off to a slow start didn't help us. Yes, we were missing some of our key contributors tonight. North Greenville shot the ball very well. We shot the ball poorly, which allowed to separate the game."
How It Happened
The Crusaders struck first in the contest on Wednesday evening with back-to-back 3-pointers from Justin Potson. Zalan Richards put the Warriors on the board with a jump shot. The Crusaders rallied while the Warriors attempted to tie the game up with shots from Weldon and Sharpe. A 3-pointer from Alex Kurtz put the Warriors within 10 of North Greenville. The Crusaders responded with a layup and free throw from Tommy Wade. Jeremy Wert put up a layup to finish the first half at 48-28.
The Warriors struck first in the second half with a 3-pointer from Sharpe, but the Crusaders quickly responded with a 3-pointer from Matt Moore. Richards, Weldon, Sharpe, and JT Noellert all made free throws, but the Warriors still trailed 76-50. Despite a late jump shot and layup from Wert, Southern Wesleyan was not able to regain control as the Crusaders won the game 80-56.
What's Next
The Warriors will remain on the road and face the Lees-McRae Bobcats on February 4 at 4 p.m. They will return home on February 11 to take on the Emmanuel College Lions at 4 p.m.
