SWU Drops Close Match to Belmont Abbey

Southern Wesleyan battled Belmont Abbey to the wire in all three sets before falling in Conference Carolinas action tonight.

SWU lost 25-21, 25-23 and 26-24 on the road, dropping their overall record to 2-7.  Belmont Abbey improved to 2-8 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Sarah Hughey posted 18 kills on the night and Paige O'Connor added nine. Annika Jones had 26 assists and Milicia Stamenic provided 13 digs and Katie Anderson collected 12 in the loss.

"We hit .274 on the night and .316 in set 3, our best of the season," commented head coach Julia Reininga.  She added, " Now we have to figure out our serve and pass game.  We will come back tomorrow ready to fight again."

The Warriors will have little time to dwell on tonight's loss as they hit the court again tomorrow at Pfeiffer.  The match will start at 2pm.
