Warriors Take Big Conference Win Against Lions

Box Score

Sarah Hughey gains 14 kills in the win against Emmanuel College.

The Warriors win 3-0 over the Lions.  The Lions did not let the Warriors take the lead easily in the first set of the game.  The Warriors would not let that deter them as they pushed ahead to win the first set 27-25.  The win was only the start for the Warriors, as they went on to win the second set by a landside 25-9 victory.  The last set of the match went similar to the first with both of the teams fighting for the end result.  However, the Warriors knew that this was their game and pulled ahead to win the last set 28-26.

"I'm very proud of the team tonight!" said Head Volleyball Coach Julia Reininga.  She continued, "It was a big conference road win against a very strong Emmanuel team!  We will continue to work to get better each week!"

Annika Jones contributed with 27 assists, and Milicia Stamenic received 17 digs in the win against the Lions of Emmanuel College.  The win brings the Southern Wesleyan University Warriers' record to 11-9 and 9-3 in Conference Carolinas competition.  The Lions come to 8-14 and 5-8 in the conference play.

The Warriors will next travel to Erskine on Saturday, October 29.  They will return home to play against Converse on Tuesday, November 1 for Faculty & Staff Appreciation at SWU.  Warrior Volleyball will remain at home November 4 to take on the Bulldogs of Barton and November 5 to take on the Trojans of Mount Olive.
