Warriors Win in Exciting Match versus Limestone

Sarah Hughey and Paige O'Connor combine for 35 kills in a 3-1 win over Limestone College.

Southern Wesleyan and Limestone battled hard in the first set, with one team pulling ahead and then the other.  In the end, the Warriors prevailed taking the first set 26-24.  The second set was no different than the first and the crowd could feel the energy between the two teams rising.  The Warriors put up a fight, but the Saints took the second set 25-21, tying the match up 1-1.

SWU took an early lead in the third set of the evening.  While Limestone fought back, the Warriors prevailed, taking the third set 25-19.  The Warriors fought hard in the fourth set gaining a quick lead to take it 25-12.

"I'm very proud of how the team played tonight!" Said Head Coach Julia Reininga regarding the team's performance in the game.  She continued saying, "They have shown improvement each week of the season.  They continue to work hard to get better each day!"  

Annika Jones compiled 43 assists, and Milicia Stamenic and Shelby Sheets combined for 35 digs in the win against the Saints of Limestone.

The 3-1 win over the Saints gives the Warriors their seventh consecutive win brings their season record up to 9-7 and makes their Conference Carolinas record become 7-2.  Limestone College's record becomes 6-15 and 2-9 in Conference play.

The Warriors will return to Tysinger Gymnasium on October 18 to take on Columbus St. at 7 p.m.
