Warriors Fall to Bobcats

CENTRAL, S.C.‑ Southern Wesleyan allowed Lees-McRae to shoot 55.0 percent from the field in its 98-85 loss.

Darius Sharpe scored a career-high 27 points with two steals and one assist. He shot 6-for-11 from the field, 5-for-8 from the three-point line, and set career highs in free throws and free throw attempts with ten makes on 11 attempts. DJ Dobson scored 13 points, pulled in four rebounds, and blocked a career-high two shots. Jamaral Kearse scored 12 points, grabbed four rebounds, and had two assists.

The Bobcats (8-7, 5-1 CC) shot 57.9 percent from the field in the first half, while the Warriors (2-13, 1-6) only hit 35.7 percent of their shots as they outscored them 60-40. Southern Wesleyan rallied in the second half as they were able to cut the lead to 7 points on a 21-8 run. That was the closest the game would get as Lees-McRae outscored them 28-24 the rest of the way. The Warriors shot considerably better in the second half as they hit 46.9 percent of their shots from the floor and 54.5 percent from behind the arc.

Southern Wesleyan next travels to Belmont Abbey Jan. 13 for a 7:30 pm contest.
