Warriors Drop Close Home Contest to Crusaders

CENTRAL, S.C.‑ Southern Wesleyan allowed North Greenville to shoot 54.0 percent from the field and 60.0 percent from the three-point line in its 78-75 loss.

Chandler Harrison scored 15 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had one steal. DJ Dobson also scored 15 points and pulled in six rebounds. Kenny Holmes scored 12 points, dished out five assists, and had a career-high five steals.

The Crusaders (4-9, 2-5 CC) started off the game with a 12-8 run to lead by four points with 13 minutes left in the first half. They stretched their lead to eight with a 31-27 run to close out the half. The Warriors (2-15, 1-8 CC) shot 37.1 percent from the field in the first half.

In the second half, Southern Wesleyan started the half by scoring ten consecutive points to re-take the lead. The teams traded the lead back and forth until the 11:48 mark when North Greenville went on a 14-2 run to create a 12 point advantage with 8:53 remaining in the game. The Warriors closed the gap to two points with a three-pointer by De'Quan Weldon with 46 seconds left. Holmes fouled a North Greenville player with three seconds left. They made one of their two foul shots to go up by three, but Southern Wesleyan was unable to tie the game as Holmes half-court heave as time expired missed its mark.

The Warriors next travel to Emmanuel Jan. 18 for a 7:30 pm contest.
