TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan men's basketball wrapped up their regular season on Tuesday night with a 91-81 loss against North Greenville. The Warriors finish the season 6-21 overall and 6-14 in Conference Carolinas.
The Warriors fought out of a 12-point halftime deficit to tie the game at 65-65 with 8:21 to play in the second half as Kenny Holmes knocked down one of his three triples on the night. NGU's Spencer Reaves responded with a three of his own on the next trip as the Crusaders quickly pushed the lead back out to six at 75-69.
Another three by Holmes and another by Jamaral Kearse brought the Warriors to within two at 75-77 but the Crusaders scored the next 10 points as the Warriors missed four straight field goal attempts down the stretch.
Cameron Solomon finished the game with 28 points on 10 of 17 shooting including a 4 of 8 performance from beyond the arc. Holmes added 22 on 8 of 16 shooting and made 3 of 8 from downtown. The Warriors shot 54 percent from the floor and made 11 of 23 3-point attempts. They also made 17 of 21 from the free throw line.
North Greenville shot 48.1 percent overall and made 12 of 25 from deep and 27 of 32 from the charity stripe. The Crusaders pulled down 15 offensive rebounds and scored 13 points in second effort.
Holmes added six assists for the Warriors and Solomon chipped in with five. The Warriors managed just 21 total rebounds led by Dwayne Bryant's eight.
SWU will close out the year with a pair of exhibition contests against Bob Jones, the first scheduled for Thursday in Tysinger at 7 p.m. The Warriors and Bruins are also scheduled to meet in Greenville on Saturday at 7 p.m.
