Warriors Fall to Patriots

FLORENCE, S.C.‑ Southern Wesleyan had 20 turnovers and allowed 31 points off turnovers in its 110-71 loss to Francis Marion.

DJ Dobson led the team with 16 points. He also grabbed four rebounds and had three steals. Jamaral Kearse scored 14 points and shot 4-for-7 from the three-point line. Jeremy Wert scored eight points and pulled in three rebounds.

"Our youthfulness really came into play tonight," said Warriors Head Coach Charles Wimphrie, "I can see much progress, but too much inconsistency. Francis Marion really came to play tonight."

The Warriors (1-11) shot 37.9 percent from the floor, 43.5 percent from the behind the arc, and 55.0 percent from the free-throw line. The Patriots (7-1) shot 57.4 percent from the field, 52.2 percent from the three-point line, and 76.0 percent from the foul line.

Wimphrie said, "I believe the future of Southern Wesleyan basketball is very bright. These guys compete with class and that speaks volumes about each one of them."

Southern Wesleyan hosts Belmont Abbey for its next game Jan. 5 at 7:30 pm. The Warriors play four out of their next five games at home.
