Box Score

CENTRAL, S.C. - The Southern Wesleyan volleyball team remains undefeated in Conference Carolinas and is riding an eight game win streak thanks to a 3-0 win over Emmanuel College on Friday night in Tysinger Gymnasium. The Warriors improve to 13-4 on the season and a perfect 8-0 in conference play, while the Lions fall to 9-9 and 2-6 in conference play. The Warriors won 25-13, 25-16, 25-16 and have won all but one conference match (a 3-1 win over Barton) in straight sets.

"It was nice to have some extra time to rest and prepare this week thanks to fall break," said head coach Julia Reininga. "It was a great win and it's always great to pick up points in conference play."

Senior hitter Sarah Hughey led the way with 15 kills while sophomore Paige O'Connor added 12 kills and four aces. Megan Widener racked up 32 kills in the win and Katie Anderson led the team with eight digs. The Warriors hit over .500 in two of the three sets for a balanced offensive attack while the SWU defense held the Lions to hitting percentages of just .103, .364, and .179.

The Warriors have a quick turnaround, returning to the court Saturday, Oct. 10 in a crucial conference battle against Erskine. Both teams are undefeated in Conference Carolinas. Erskine is 11-5 overall.
