CENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan was never able to get on track on Tuesday night, shooting just 32.3 percent in a 75-49 loss against Barton in a Conference Carolinas matchup in Tysinger Gymnasium.
Bri Seda scored 10 of her 16 in the second half for the Warriors but the Lady Bulldogs had too much force inside, outscoring the Warriors 48-24 in the paint. Seda led the Warriors and finished the game 7 of 16 from the floor.
Barton shot 50 percent from the floor in the contest and made three of their 3 pointers in the first half as they built a 38-22 lead at the break. A 16-5 run by Barton opened up a close game and put the Lady Bulldogs on top 27-13 with 6:08 left in the first. The Warriors scored six of the next eight to close within 10 but never again got that close.
Christiana Perkins added a double double with 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds for the Warriors. Perkins leads the team with four double doubles on the season. Chelsie Waters added eight points to lead the bench scoring. The Warriors got 16 points off the bench, Barton countered with 22.
The Warriors' zone wasn't able to stop Barton inside as Shatisha Dukes and Brianna Thomas combined for 41 points on 19 of 32 shooting. The duo also added 17 rebounds. Thomas led all players with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
The Warriors will hit the road for the first time in over two weeks as SWU heads to Limestone on Friday for a 5:30 p.m. tilt. SWU also will play at Converse on Saturday. The Warriors lost to Limestone 74-41 back earlier this month and defeated Converse 76-67.
