SWU volleyball finishes weekend at 2-2 with Saturday's split

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Southern Wesleyan closed out the Lee Invitational with their second split in as many days, knocking off Kentucky Wesleyan 3-0 before falling to Lee in four.

Kentucky Wesleyan Match
Southern Wesleyan bounced back after a five-set loss on Friday night to sweep the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan 27-25, 25-19, 25-23 in three tight sets.  The three set victory is the 10th of the season for the Warriors.

The trio of Cherilyn Ramsey, Alysia Cruell and Sarah Hughey each recorded double-digit kill efforts with Ramsey leading the charge with 14 kills and a .406 attack percentage.  The Warriors hit .292 for the match including a .571 clip in the second.

Hughey had a double-double for the fourth time this season and second in as many days with 10 kills and 10 digs.  Cruell added 11 kills and a .300 hitting percentage.  Courtney O'Brien chipped in with 10 digs and six assists while Megan Widener led the offensive attack with 29 assists.

Lee Match
The Warriors dropped their second of the weekend and fifth match on the year, falling to the tourney hosts in four sets.  SWU hit just .146 for the match, their second lowest output of the season and the lowest since the opening weekend of the season.

Lee took the first two sets, 25-18, 25-22 before the Warriors rallied to win the third 25-23 but the Flames bounced back to win the fourth and taking the match 25-22.  Lee hit .228 for the match.

Hughey and Cruell finished off their stellar weekend with 13 and 10 kills respectively as Hughey added 15 digs to notch her fifth double-double of the year and third of the weekend.  Jacinta Hoffpauir added nine kills as Cherilyn Ramsey chipped in with eight and eight digs. 

Megan Widener directed the offense with 28 assists and six kills while digging up 15 balls.  Courtney O'Brien added 11 digs.

The Warriors will finally host a home match after playing the first 16 on the road.  SWU will welcome in Dalton State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Tysinger.
