TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan volleyball won their third straight Conference Carolinas match on Tuesday evening, defeating North Greenville 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-22) to wrap up their third straight sweep.
The Warriors hit .253 for the match as Cherilyn Ramsey and Sarah Hughey each notched 10 kills for the match. This was the ninth time Hughey reached double figures on the season and the eighth time Ramsey has done so. Ramsey also led the team with 10 digs to mark her fifth double-double of the season.
In addition to her 10 kills, Hughey managed six digs and five total blocks for an impressive all-around performance. Alysia Cruell proved to an important two-way player with eight kills and seven digs and one block. Megan Widener added 21 assists and Courtney O'Brien tallied 16 assists.
The Lady Crusaders (8-3, 1-2 CC) managed just a .118 attack and were led by Rachel Burts' 11 kills.
The Warriors continue to lead the South Division of Conference Carolinas and are one of three teams, all in that division, to remain unbeaten in conference play. Erskine and Limestone are also undefeated in conference matches. SWU is ineligible for conference championships and the conference tournament as a Year Two Candidacy Member in the NCAA.
SWU jumps out of conference action this weekend to head to Lee University for four matches, starting with a pair on Friday. The Warriors will finally open their home portion next Tuesday, Sept. 30 against Dalton State.
