Box Score GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Southern Wesleyan women's basketball suffered their third straight loss in Southern States Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon, falling 78-51 to Brenau after trailing by just two at halftime.
The Warriors (4-10, 2-6 SSAC) made only four field goals in the second half en route to scoring just 17 points in the half. Three of their four field goals came from beyond the arc. Christiana Perkins led the team with 14 points which included a career-best four three-pointers. Cayse Branyon chipped in with 12 points.
The first half was far from what the second half became as the teams traded the lead six times in addition to three ties. The Warriors led by as much as three. Brenau led only 36-34 at the break.
In the second half, the Warriors were held scoreless for the first 12 minutes as the Golden Tigers embarked on a 23-0 run. Brenau shot a robust 64 percent from the floor in the half and 56 percent overall while the Warriors finished the game at 25 percent.
Brenau was led by three players in double figures, topped by Nekeia Brown's game-high 21 points and eight rebounds.
These two will meet again in Central on February 8 at 2 p.m.
Next up for the Warriors is a home date with Brewton-Parker on Thursday at 6 p.m.
