SWU Volleyball Rebounds with Sweep of Belhaven

JACKSON, Miss. – After losing their six-game winning streak on Tuesday Southern Wesleyan volleyball bounced back with a 3-0 sweep of Belhaven as the Warriors returned to Southern States Athletic Conference action.


The Warriors improved to 16-7 overall and stay perfect at 4-0 in the SSAC, remaining one of three teams in the conference that are still undefeated in conference action.


SWU continued to hit well in matches, with a .357 attack percentage and 46 kills.  The Warriors didn't hit under .300 in any set and tallied at least 14 digs in each.  Courtney Williams continued her hot streak, hitting .500 on 22 attacks with a match-high 13 kills.  The junior added three blocks and five digs.


One of the leaders in setting up the offense, Megan Widener, added 34 assists, seven digs and two blocks.  Cherilyn Ramsey and Hayley Hoover joined Williams in double-digits with 12 and 10 kills.  Hoover hit .529 with only one error.  Kelsey Deerinwater led all players with 16 digs as the Warrior defense held Belhaven to a .116 attack percentage in the match.


The Warriors will head down to New Orleans to take on Loyola on Saturday.  First serve is set for 1 p.m.
