Box Score BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Southern Wesleyan women's basketball fell to Blue Mountain College in a high scoring affair on Friday night, 99-90.
The Warriors (2-4, 1-2 SSAC) jumped out to a 13-0 lead to start the game but the Toppers (3-3, 1-2 SSAC( responded in a big way. BMC found themselves up 42-25 just 11 minutes after the Warriors' 13-0 run was snapped, a 30 point swing.
SWU fought back to make it an eight point game – 51-43 – at the break. In the second half the Toppers again pushed the lead back out to double digits but again the Warriors scrapped and fought back. They cut the lead to six with nearly eight minutes left and had it down to four as late as 3:12 but were unable to make it a one possession game.
Christiana Perkins led the Warriors with 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Perkins added three triples on five attempts. Cayse Branyon added 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting and hit on 4-of-5 from long range. The Warriors shot 57-percent from the floor but BMC shot 63-percent. The Toppers connected on 59-percent of their three-point attempts.
The Warriors conclude their weekend road swing at Martin Methodist on Saturday.
