Volleyball Falls in Five to Coastal Georgia

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – Southern Wesleyan volleyball was unable to complete the season sweep of Coastal Georgia on Friday, falling 3-2 to the Mariners.

  
Cherilyn Ramsey and Courtney Williams combined to tally 35 kills but it wasn't enough on this night as the Warriors hit just .199 for the match.  Coastal Georgia hit .207.  The Mariners (20-9, 10-3 SSAC) took the first set 25-23 before falling in the second by the same score to the Warriors (22-10, 9-3 SSAC).  SWU dropped the third 25-21 before forcing a fifth set with a 25-15 win in the fourth.  In the fifth the Mariners won 15-11.


Williams collected 18 kills and hit .316 while Ramsey collected 17 kills and hit .275 but no one else hit over .200 for the Warriors.  Kara Neisen had a game-high 22 kills for the Mariners.  Megan Widener tallied a match-high 53 assists and added 17 digs for another double-double for the sophomore.  Hayley Hoover just missed out on a double-double of her own with a match-high 25 digs and nine kills.  Kesley Deerinwater added 21 digs.


The Warriors will travel to Brewton-Parker on Saturday for a match at 1 p.m.
