Central, S.C. - Southern Wesleyan falls to the Mount Olive Trojans in five exciting sets on Saturday afternoon.
Southern Wesleyan posted 46 kills in the loss on Saturday afternoon. Olivia Johnson had 17 kills to lead the Warriors. Amber Bass and Sarah Stone each contributed nine kills to follow behind Johnson. Darby Sheets had 37 of the 41 assists.The Warriors boasted 68 digs, led by senior Anna Martin with 25 digs. Jesse Soles followed Martin with 11 digs. There were 14 team blocks and five service aces on the day.

How It Happened
The first set of the match started out with continuous change in possession between the Warriors and the Trojans. After being tied 10-10, the Warriors gained control of the match with kills from Sarah Stone and Ashlyn Holford to lead 14-11. Olivia Johnson lifted the Warriors to a 19-17 lead with kills from the outside. The Trojans threatened by tying it at 21-21, before a service ace from Stone and Mount Olive errors would allow the Warriors to win the first set 25-22.
Mount Olive jumped out in set two and took a 7-4 lead with kills from Ania Keene and Amara Eziakonwa. The Warriors pulled within one on a kill from Amber Bass. Stone provided additional offensive production by keeping the Warriors right there with the Trojans as Mount Olive led 14-12. The Warriors were unable to get anything going and the Trojans went on to win set two 25-18.
In the third set, Southern Wesleyan attacked first by claiming the lead 7-2, contrary to set two's start. The Warriors cruised through several points with Holford, Stone, and Bass chipping in along the way. With the Warriors leading 14-11, the Trojans kept closing the gap. A late 5-0 run would put the Warriors ahead 23-17. Mount Olive threatened with back-to-back kills, but the Warriors sealed the set with a kill from Johnson to win 25-21.
The Warriors fell behind 10-5 after winning three of the first four points in set four. Southern Wesleyan made a 4-0 run to pull within two on kills from Holford. A service ace from Jesse Soles and a kill from Johnson tied the score at 15-15 and again at 16-16. After the Warriors took an 18-16 lead, the Trojans regained the lead with five straight points. The Trojans would go on to win set four 25-21.
In the deciding fifth set, Mount Olive jumped out with a quick 4-0 run. A kill from Johnson would put the Warriors on the board and lead to another service ace from Soles. Stone attacked through the middle to put the Warriors within two, trailing 7-5. Errors would give the Warriors a majority of their last few points as the Trojans won the match after a 15-10 final fifth set score.
Southern Wesleyan will host the Lees-McRae Bobcats on November 6 at 7 p.m. for their Dig Pink/Faculty and Staff Appreciation Match. They will then host the North Greenville Crusaders on November 9 at 12 p.m.
