Central, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan defeated the King Tornado in a 3-0 final to advance to the Conference Carolinas semi-finals.
The Warriors posted 33 kills in the victory over the Tornado, with Katie Anderson leading the team with nine kills. Annika Jones posted 26 assists. Jones posted her 1,000 career assist in the victory. Three Warriors posted aces in the win. Katie Anderson led the team with 17 digs. Southern Wesleyan posted six blocks, with Kendall Vallancourt leading the team with three.

How It Happened
The Tornado struck first, but errors and kills by Kendall Vallancourt gave the Warriors a 4-3 lead. Kills by Katie Anderson and Paige O'Connor gave Southern Wesleyan a 7-6 lead. King fought back, but Southern Wesleyan charged ahead on kills by Annika Jones, Olivia Johnson and Anderson. Anna Martin, O'Connor and Anderson delivered kills to give Southern Wesleyan at 25-17 victory in the first set.
Back-to-back kills by Paige O'Connor and Annika Jones gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead over the Tornado. King countered to put two points on the board, but kills by Kendall Vallancourt, Paige O'Connor and Liz Kuntz allowed the Warriors to lengthen their lead to 8-5. An ace by Vallancourt and kills by Kuntz and Olivia Johnson allowed the Warriors to maintain their lead and bring the score to 18-15. King fought back to come to once behind Southern Wesleyan, but a kill by Olivia Johnson gave the Warriors a 25-22 second set victory.
Like in the first set, King took an early lead and make the score 5-1. However a kill by Katie Anderson and an ace by Annika Jones allowed Southern Wesleyan to cute the Tornado's lead to 3-5. Katie Anderson delivered a kill to allow the Warriors to tie the third set 10-10. The Warriors took the lead on an ace by Shelby Sheets and kills by Kendall Vallancourt and Paige O'Connor. Southern Wesleyan and King battled back and forth, exchanging the lead several time, however a kill by Paige O'Connor and attack error by the Tornado allowed the Warriors to win the final set 26-24.
Southern Wesleyan will face the Barton Bulldogs in the semi-finals on November 11 in Wilson, N.C.
